Xtreme Creative Writing Styles: Hyperminimalism
Minimalism leaves the reader to take an active role in the creation of the story by filling in the blanks left by the author's spare prose. Hyperminimalism leaves more blanks for the reader to fill, as in the following example:
Something happened. A man with glasses was involved.

Hyperminimalism
I'm not sure I can get totally on board with hyperminimalism, myself. Minimalism is okay--Hemingway's "Hills Like White Elephants" comes to mind as does some of Sherwood Anderson's work. Minimalism is direct, simple, not too descriptive or qualifying. It leaves something to the reader, while giving you an the essence of the person, setting, circumstance, etc. If it were to be compared to the visual arts, it might be like impressionism. But hyperminimalism? Ehh, I just need a little bit...more. Reading fiction is like traveling, sometimes like escaping. I almost feel as though hyperminimalism can't really give the reader a vehicle for moving out of his/her world into another one, ya know what I mean?

Hyperminimalism?
In this buzz about the original post, by Unpublished Guy, I challenge the style of Hyperminimalism and whether or not it actually is a style. Would you read a story that left you with a black hole of nothing, carved into your imagination?

Challenge: Hyperminimalism Writing
So we have hyperminimalism in the visual arts and architecture (pretty much thanks to the modernists and Kasimir Malevich for starting Suprematism), but have you heard of hyperminimalist writing?
Hyperminimalist writings get your head spinning and thinking with only a small amount of words. The idea is to dip and dap into the ideas that you’re presenting, then leave everything else for the reader to fill in the blanks. As our Unpublished Guy puts it, “Minimalism leaves the reader to take an active role in the creation of the story by filling in the blanks left by the author’s spare prose.”
So lets see what kind of interesting ideas can we get from here? ;)

Wanna Play?
Minimalism describes movements in various forms of art and design where the work is stripped down to its most fundamental features. As Unpublished Guy describes here, hyperminimalism strips it down further, leaving more blanks for the reader to fill.
Try your hand at your own hyperminimalist masterpiece!

Hyperminimalism
I tried my own hand at hyperminimalism and tried to describe the concept with example in my area of interest (fashion).
This seed is great because it allows so much freedom to experiment, much like hyperminimalism leaves a lot to be filled in by the reader. It is nice to see a seed I can get excited to write about :)
