Where do the husbands fit in?

One of the issues currently facing the United States Military is how to best support the spouses. With more spouses choosing to work, live off the installation or live with family during deployments and training, the traditional model of spousal support (an informal, semisocial group led by the Commanding Officer's wife) is no longer working. The Army has instituted Family Readiness Groups- an "official" organization operated completely by volunteers. The FRGs have met with limited sucess.

One issue that has NOT been addressed and is consistently turned aside is the needs of Army Husbands- men whose wives are serving. Whether they stay home or attempt to maintain portable careers, these men are facing the same challenges that Army Wives do with the added burden of sterotype and battling with services designed to support the more traditional role of Army Wife.
