What's the point of the iPad

The latest gadget from Apple has been launched and I'm failing to see the point.

It really does just look like an oversized iPhone and I don't have one of those either.

There seem to be much more appropriate ways of completing the tasks the iPad is capable of so I can't understand why it's being heralded as the saviour of the news industry or a contender for the ereader throne.

Gaming on a phone is cool to pass the time on a train journey but a bit inconsiderate if you're wavng about something as big as the iPad.

So I've written my post iPhone therefore iPad to open up a debate about the iPad's position in the market and people's general opinion.
