A Message In A Bubble
If you had one chance to send a message through time.. What would you do? Who would you send the message to? Would you send it to yourself, or a relative, a good friend or a complete stranger? In the movie Back to the Future part II, Dr. Emmet Brown writes a letter in 1885, which he leaves at the local postoffice, to be delivered to Marty McFly in 1985. What would you tell your 18 year old self?
If I could go back and write a letter to myself (although I'm only 24) there is so much I would say. Too much has happened in the past six years. My father died, my grandfather died, my grandmother died, I got married, had a baby, my identity was stolen, I've lost friends, made new ones, and lost some more. I try to have no regret because I love my life. I still wish I did things differently. Who doesn't?

Questioning Your Youth

Letter to me
Raise your hand if, as a youth, you ever wrote a letter to yourself, to be opened many years in the future. I know I did. I stumbled upon a blog post entitled Listen to Your Own Advice and loved the idea of the older me writing a letter to a younger me. Just like the Brad Paisley song, “If I could write a letter to me. And send it back in time to myself at 17…” I started thinking about the person that I was 20 years ago, just days before my 16th birthday.

What advice would you give your 21 year old self?
I'm always hesitant to play "if I could do it over" because I really love my life right now. But that being said, there are some things that probably caused me unnecessary pain, and would have been better side-stepped, had I only known. So here is my message to my younger, more vulnerably self, the self that still believed that so much more of life was in her control, and so much that went wrong was her fault.

Looked into the face of promise it came in the shape of a band new 18 year old high school graduate. The world sits before him, so many opportunities rest on his shoulders. I remember being there- scared by the vast openness of opportunity. What if I could give that frightened young girl a bit of advice?
