Want to create a more motivating environment?
"The secret to high performance isn't rewards and punishments, but that unseen intrinsic drive - the drive to do things for their own sake, the drive to do things because they matter."~Daniel Pink
Organizations try to motivate people in three ways: the extrensic motivators of fear and rewards, or by tapping into their "want to" - intrinsic motivation. In order to engage the desire of people to perform and pursue your common mission, you must create opportunities for Autonomy, Mastery, and Purpose. The blog includes a video of Daniel Pink presenting on this subject at an international TED Conference.
My purpose in writing this blog was to illustrate and provide further evidence for motivating people within organizations. But the same rules apply in families, communities, churches and more.
Where do you need motivated people? How might you apply these basic tenets for creating a motivating environment?

What to do When You Lack Motivation
We all have those times where we simply lack the motivation to do what we want or need to do in our lives. When you get stuck in this position, sometimes it can be hard to get out. Other times your lackadaisical nature will run its course. Either way, it can be rather frustrating when you really want to or need to do something and you just feel like a pile of bricks lying there unable to move.
Here are some ways in which you can combat the lazy bear in you and be more "productive."
