Supporting a Soldier

I recently sent a care package to a friend who is overseas with the military.  This post outlines what I learned about what to send, how to send it, and who you can send care packages to if you don't know anyone who is deployed.  Do you send care packages?  What do you pack for your troop(s)?

Soldiers Angels

I "adopted" a soldier last year and mailed packages overseas monthly until he returned home safely. Soldiers Angels makes it easy to know what to send by providing a list of most requested items such as: tootsie pops, gum, bug repellent and chap stick. The most tedious part of mailing items overseas is filling out the forms at the post office, and sometimes the postage is more expensive than the contents of the package.

Support/Care Packages for Soldiers

Inspired by the original blogger's post on how to send a care package to a soldier, I realized how many soldiers are our nations' caregivers.

Supporting our troops - just do it!

Ran across a blog post that talked about something near and dear to my heart - and that is supporting our troops. It is an experience that you will be glad for having, and one that you will never forget. I haven't.

Supporting Soldiers Overseas...

After doing some research I realize that there are number of people outside of the military community who would love to show support to our troops by sending care packages. One problem that most people run into is they simply do not know what items to send or who to send the items to. There are two nonprofit organizations that I recommend to make this experience easier, Soldiers' Angels and Any Soldier.

Any Soldier

Regardless of your political views, we should all support our troops. When my husband and brother in law were deployed (yes, at the same time), I would send them care packages. My brother in law told me about Anysoldier.com, which allows you to get the address of a solider in need, so they can receive a care package.

Giving Back

I wrote a post about giving to others - giving infant formula to orphans in Africa, sending care packages to soldiers overseas, giving a wheelchair to those in need. The post focuses on finding ways to help and bless others and to not forget how blessed we are.
