Finally, there is a blog by women, for women who love the rough and tumble game of football. I am a New Orleans Saints fan and I love to talk about them. But come on over and talk smack about your favorite team or get with me and talk about the Saints. And guys, don't hate. We want to know what you have to say as well. You might find that our take on the game is not that much different from yours.
Punxsutawney Phil doesn’t live in Whitefish for a reason. The odds of a groundhog ever seeing a ray of sunshine during a Flathead Valley sun-free winter is just about nil.
Two key dynamics drive this topic - the conflict and resolution of the games that are played and the emotional attachment of everyone involved in the pursuit of youth sports. I've learned that it's not easy to write regularly without the risk of offending someone who gets carried away, but if you can laugh at yourself the material is there and it just keeps coming.
Philadelphia may be a tough town, but the NFL was right to postpone Sunday's game between the Eagles and Vikings. I would have stayed home, too, to watch it rather than go out into a blizzard. In fact, I'd rather have been watching the game from a veranda on the Sea of Cortez in Baja California. And all that business about how Vince Lombardi would be spinning in his grave at the postponement? Nah...he'd just chalk it up to another day for practice and tweaking his game plan. Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell was way out of line in calling us as bunch of wussies.
The House of Georges paid a visit to Ladies All About Football, who are excited about the Saints' chances of repeating, and yes, Reggie Bush toting the rock with toughness.
"We interrupt this marriage to bring you football season"
I recently posted a humorous entry about becoming a "Football Widow" for the next 6 months or so. This weekend was the first pre-season football game, and my husband (who has season tix) packed up his tailgaiting paraphernalia and took off with his buddies for the stadium.
I am thankful that he's really only a football fan and that his sporting interests don't change with the seasons! While I enjoy a good sporting event.. it sure isn't the be all, end all for me!
I don't think anyone would like it very much if we weren't acculturated to do so! It doesn't taste nearly as good as wine, and you have to drink a lot more of it, filling yourself up with carbon dioxide, to get a comparable buzz! Another fact of American life that makes little sense to me!
Nearly 21 years on, I am still haunted by the events of April 15, 1989, at Sheffield’s Hillsborough Stadium. Haunted by the death of 96 fellow football fans, agitated to this day that as an innocent and naive 15 year old, my first concern was actually as to when the FA Cup Semi-Final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest would recommence ...
Is it un-American to never watch the Super Bowl? In my latest post, I confess to Super Bowl-avoidance and football aversion. In fact, I never watch sports on TV at all, with the exception of figure skating. Must I go into hiding?
