I borrowed this quote from my friend Amanda’s facebook page. I thought it was fitting because I rode my bike for the first time yesterday (successfully) since I have had prosthetic legs.
I always tell people “I am no athlete,” because for so many years now I have thought that all of my medical problems prevent me from being one. This year, I am just going to do it… I turned 31, and I have this, “its now or never,” attitude about many things in life right now and taking back control of my own body is one of them.
Two key dynamics drive this topic - the conflict and resolution of the games that are played and the emotional attachment of everyone involved in the pursuit of youth sports. I've learned that it's not easy to write regularly without the risk of offending someone who gets carried away, but if you can laugh at yourself the material is there and it just keeps coming.
