A life crisis -- a severe health scare, the loss of a beloved one, a tragic personal trauma -- is not the only way to find a route to better physical health and mental well-being. In my case, I am running for my life after a serious health scare in my youth. I'd like to be a part of a conversation in which bloggers tell their true stories of how profound and life-enriching and life-extending change became possible for them.
After having no interest in sports growing up, I finally appreciate the Olympic Games. This post was written as a result of the swelling of Canadian pride I felt at the accomplishments of our athletes at the Games.
What's your perspective? Do you enjoy the Olympics? Why or why not?
I'm sure you know the overall plot for this movie but in case not I'll give a brief rundown. A ballerina is chosen to play the parts of the White Swan and then the Black Swan in play put on by her dancing troupe. The problems come when she starts to imagine that the new girl is trying to take her spot. What follows is actually a pretty dark thriller, not what some people were expecting at all I feel.
Finally, there is a blog by women, for women who love the rough and tumble game of football. I am a New Orleans Saints fan and I love to talk about them. But come on over and talk smack about your favorite team or get with me and talk about the Saints. And guys, don't hate. We want to know what you have to say as well. You might find that our take on the game is not that much different from yours.
Goal Setting. Ouch....This is where things can get tough. Setting personal goals can be really challenging because we don’t want to fail and often put extremely high hopes on ourselves. The key to reaching your goals is to search within yourself and really ask what you want, and what YOU can do. Setting realistic goals will make achieving them easier because you can see the end and you can visualize the result.
I sometimes wonder whether sportsmen are allowed private lives? Whilst it is true that several have used the media to their own needs, I often find myself asking what right the tabloids have to persistently invade the private lives of sportsmen. The Beckhams have put up with it all their lives, although possibly there is less sympathy for them given that they have never been shy of courting the press ...
Punxsutawney Phil doesn’t live in Whitefish for a reason. The odds of a groundhog ever seeing a ray of sunshine during a Flathead Valley sun-free winter is just about nil.
I'm writing this, because I want to share a write-up that my dad has done on a topic that hits pretty close to home in our family. For those of you who don't know, we have a motorcycle racing ministry as a family, you can find the link to the website under 'CSBA Race Team'.
We all need cardio in our lives and recently I've taken up running as a way to get my heart going and my body moving. I started slow and have progressed into doing a few 5K runs for local charities.

When my 5 year old decided to switch teams to root for based on which one was winning I knew there were some lessons I needed to teach him about being a fan. He could root for who ever he wants, and even not care about sports, but he can't be a band wagon fan. That is unpardonable.
I borrowed this quote from my friend Amanda’s facebook page. I thought it was fitting because I rode my bike for the first time yesterday (successfully) since I have had prosthetic legs.
I always tell people “I am no athlete,” because for so many years now I have thought that all of my medical problems prevent me from being one. This year, I am just going to do it… I turned 31, and I have this, “its now or never,” attitude about many things in life right now and taking back control of my own body is one of them.
We have hit the summer break in the Russian Premier Leagues inaugural season of change 2011-2012. Before moving to a western European styled season running from autumn to spring. There are few surprises each team has played the other once (with the exception of CSKA Moscow and FC Volga Nizhny Novgorod) the reverse fixtures will complete the rest of the season
Just almost ten days to go before the closing date of the firefit health challenge and I can’t wait. I have already entered my workplace and look forward to entering many challenges including this one below:
It is always a great pleasure coming to work here at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships every year for the London Fire Brigade on behalf of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club ( AELTC). This year we was blessed with some fine weather as well as some great tennis as usual. It was also a spot the celebrities in the royal box game with attendance from Dianna Ross, Jay Z amongst others and also the newly wed Royal Couple Kate and William. Even Johnathon Ross the TV chat show host was seated in my gallery as you can see in the picture below.
To make changes, sometimes it takes the right event happening at just the right time. Even though, separately, the event and time seem obvious and easily understood, the connection between the two is what can truly inspire change. So, how did an unbelievable soccer game changed my perspective about my business??
My bid to make a fitness comeback at the World Police and Fire Games in New York this summer is over! I had an e-mail from the owners of the budget accommodation that I had booked for me many months ago saying:
Professional such as Rich Been, Annika Sorestam, Tiger Woods and Rocco Mediate have switched to doing more Pilates to win the PGA Championship and preserve their backs. It's time for you to see how Pilates can improve your game...
Virginia Nicholas is a wonderful, well experienced Pilates instructor who owns Moving Breath Pilates in Tempe, AZ and teachers as part of Pilates Core Integration Teacher Training Program (PCI). I had the pleasure of having a private workout from her while nearby on vacation.
Yesterday I had the pleasure or being taken on a tour of the Olympic park still being constructed for the London 2012 Olympics. This was organised by the Trade Union and Community learning centre of which the centre will be part of the legacy after the games. As the tour started, I felt I had two heads on…a fire safety Inspectors head, and an avid sports enthusiasts head!!
As a stay at home parent it's important to find fun activities that don't revolve around the kids. I am with my boys all day for most of the days of the week so when I got a chance to play in a Wiffle ball league I took it. Playing a favorite game from my childhood with the added bonus of beer has been fun and restorative. What do you do for fun with the kids?
