We're Not Getting Younger!

In a report put out by the Greater Boston Physicians for Social Responsibility, “Environmental Threats to Healthy Aging”, the authors have indicated ways to reduce exposure to some of the toxicants in our every day lives.

Divine Primate: A Journey Towards Sustainable Cultures

Humans are a wonerful species of primates, but certainly not capable of controlling our ego and greed in a hyped-up consumerist culture.  Living sustainably will require some major shifts in our culture towards responsibility and stress-reduction rather than mindless "productivity" and acquisitiveness.

Crisis and Discord in the World of Multiple Sclerosis

There are very few treatments for MS and those present constant challenges to patients by their administration and side effects.

An Italian physician has made a breathrough discovery of a vascular componant to MS.  But the medical world has largely ignored him or villified him.

I write about my take on the situation and my conversation with Joyce Nelson, the CEO of the National MS Society in the United States.

Being Afraid of Nuclear Energy

A response to a New York Times op-ed piece written by Bob Herbert.  In his article, he argues why the United States is not ready for an expansion in nuclear power, citing the oil spill in the Gulf as an example of the devastation that could occur.  I argue that we are not only ready for nuclear power, but that technology has advanced far enough making the technology safer.

The Electrifying Edison

At Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School in Washington, children in Natosh Jones' third-grade class bend over model cars designed to run on solar power. Working with a team of professional scientists from NASA and other federal agencies, they're putting finishing touches on the cars. With a student body that is almost totally minority and predominantly poor, Martin Luther King is the kind of American public school that has too often failed its students, especially in science and mathematics.

"Pediatric Bipolar Disorder"! I call B.S.! Do you?

Over about the past five years, there has been an epidemic in diagnosing children with this new "disorder", that does not even exist in the "Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders" - commonly known as "The Bible of Psychiatry".  Pediatricians and child psychiatrists have been distributing prescriptions for drugs that have never been tested on children to "treat" this "disorder", including antipsychotics, antidepressants, and tranquilizers.

High Fructose Corn Syrup will kill you

High fructose corn syrup is in everything these days. When I was at the grocery looking for applesauce, I picked up the one labeled Original and it contained HFCS. To me there is nothing "original" about HFCS.

A recent study from researchers at Princeton illustrated just how bad HFCS is.

HFCS causes obesity, promotes fat gain around the mid-section and increases triglycerides in the blood.

Am I right to be outraged that foods label "original" contain such a dangerous additive or is HFCS not really all that bad?

Night Owls vs. Early Birds: Who Will Win? Morning or Night People?

A friend of mine and I were talking today.  She was telling me about how her mother thinks she should be getting up at 8 am.  Many people would consider this normal.  Society would probably agree.  Others, might even think 8 am is too late.  From my friend’s perspective, however, this was just way too early to be waking up in the morning.

Why I Am Not Enthralled With "Organic"

Do you know where your food comes from?  Do you know how the food you eat is farmed, housed, treated, shipped?  I am talking about more than just the meat on your plate.  I am also talking about the fruits, the vegetables, the grains.

Here are a few links to get you involved with your own most basic needs, one of which is the need to eat, the need to feed your family.

The Apocalypse Draws Nigh

Temperatures on earth have been rising and falling over billions of years, and evidence that man's pre-dominantly responsible is far from conclusive (particularly since our existence only counts for a tiny fraction of the evolutionary timeline). However, the danger of exhausting current energy supply is beyond dispute, and more likely to affect us sooner than the need to seek inspiration from a certain biblical shipwright.

"The Vaccination Wars"

Being a critical medical researcher, I give advice to my friends, particularly my friends who are also parents, about vaccination.  I do not do so in a forceful manner, I just ask people to bear in mind what they are putting into their bodies, considering the toxic "non-medicinal ingredients" such as glycine and aluminum hydrochloride, that comprise a good deal of new vaccines.  I became quite passionate about arguing against vaccination during the H1N1 panic, and as new vaccines are being released en masse now - for example the "TwinRix" vaccine recommended for anyone traveling s

GPA Isn't Everything!

"You can get all A's and still Flunk Life," this quote by Walker Percy holds true especially when applying to College, whether undergrad. or graduate school. Many people aim for that 4.0 - some get there, but a lot never do and end up worrying over whether or not they will get accepted because of their lack of "high grades." You do not need high grades to get into college and the admissions committee at the various colleges do not expect to always see them. What they look for however, is a well rounded individual. Grades only make up a small portion of your overall package....

Herbalism

I am currently writing up my weekly herb for this week and in each entry I've posted, list their medicinal values as well as their considered magickal properties, historically.

With more and more studies we are seeing a shift in the way many see and use herbs with real life benefits over and above their chemical counterparts.

College Students Can't Access Research! The Trouble with Pay Walls...

Last week I was doing research at school for a writing class project. I had found a few good journal articles on my subject via Google Scholar. My professor suggested that I dig through the references list of an article we already had to find some good source material, which sounded like a good idea. There were probably fifty or sixty references listed in the article I chose. I typed the name of the first article into Google Scholar and clicked the title.

Are Aliens Running The Planet?

Is the purpose of Communism just to kill all of the people that can see the alien presence? I figure that this is why disclosure is not forthcoming. The aliens have experienced plenty of human ‘acceptance’ throughout history. That is why real history is hidden and vaulted away in places like the Vatican. Are bluebloods aliens? Are they Khazars or Ashkenazi? Is the Zionist conspiracy to cover up their extraterrestrial origins? Were the Bolsheviks murdering alien whistleblowers?

Doctor Who - Big Bang

Review of the season finale of Doctor Who.  Overall positive impression for the series as a whole although this final episode did not enthrall me as much as the previous (The Pandorica) did and there were quite a few gaps in the episode that just weren't explained properly.

Fragments of Evolving Manhood: Do You Like Your Body 3

The techniques that make multiple male orgasm possible are based on an understanding of male sexual response that incorporates into a system the erotic possibilities of male physiology that are usually treated as “pleasant detours” along the road to the “main event” and not as either significant sources of pleasure in their own right or necessary contributing factors to a man’s capacity for multiple orgasm.
