Provoking Thought
An inquiry to writers about inspiration, the thought processes that go along with it, what drives me and/or causes me to write and a little of what I know, thus far.

Why Write
I have often wondered what drives a person to write, and more to the point, why I write. On occasion I have examined my need to write in my own poetry and prose. ”Why Write” came about not long after I began reading my poetry a loud at the Salisbury Art Centre Poetry Café and one of the audience members asked me why I wrote. I have been asked this question a number of times over the years and as all the others at this time I wasn’t able to come up with an adequate answer. The question rattled around in my head for quite some time after the latest asking until I was driven to write “Why Write”.

Pen to Paper
I recently read an inspiring blog post entitled “Creativity – Where is the On Switch?” by V. Furnas of Life 4 Me By Me. The author of this post writes that she derives creativity from driving. Roadtrips are her inspiration.
Naturally, I turned her thought-provoking questions about the source of creativity back on myself. How am I inspired to be creative?

The Pax Integral : Provoking Thought (the Muse)
I recently read a blog on a site called The Pax Integral (awesome title, makes me think of banana's), about inspiration and where it comes from. The blog is entitled Provoking Thought, and it got me thinking...go figure…
I am a bit of a romantic, so I’m going to say 'Provoking the Muse'. This is something that differs from artist to artist.

What Inspires You?
One of the first activities I ask my coaching clients to start working on is writing a "Dream Inventory" of at least 100 dreams. That's right, a list of all that they want to HAVE, all that they want to DO, all that they want to BECOME.
The common first reaction is something like, "Are you kidding? I can think of about 10 dreams right now, and that's stretching it." I know better than this, and I help them get started with some very powerful tools.
But I am curious as to what inspires people; how do you look for, become inspired, where do you find it? What get's you started, "primes your pump" to dream of a life that transcends the one you are currently living.
What takes you to The Intersection of Purpose and Now?
I will appreciate your buzz and your comments.

Where's the Restart Button
Whereas Ryan enables us to think about how we think about what to write, Nick entices his own thought, through his writing about what life would be like if we had a Restart Button.
"Throughout my life I’ve wondered many things (my brain never stops thinking), but one of the most prominent things that pops up is, “What if we had our own restart button.” Now I know you may think I sound nuts, but I’ve analyzed this frequently (to the fact that I wished that the button would be our belly button!), and have come to some interesting conclusions."

Interested In Inspiration
The author continues the discussion that was started in the Seed. What makes you write and What inspires you? The author takes the time to answers those question and adds in a third one for anyone else who wants to keep the conversation going.

Why Blogging? - provoking thought of the day
I was reading some new blogs today and one post in particular posed the question of what motivates him to write. I took this concept and spend some time thinking about why I blog. Here are the three major reasons why I blog. What motivates you to blog?
