Our government has spent $50 billion in reconstruction, and according to more than 300 different audits, $5 billion of the $50 billion has been wasted on projects that have either been abandoned, unused, or completely left empty and unutilized. We, as citizens, and voters, should be outraged, and should really make sure that this kind of thing stops happening.
If the United States Government truly believes that the women and men of the Armed Forces are our real live heroes after sacrificing their lives and limbs in protecting our country in these dangerous times, then why do they have to work to make ends meet while others are encouraged by this very same government to sit down doing nothing, receiving a check, housing, food and free health care to produce nothing with their lives except more babies?
If there was a class on procrastination – I would get an A+. Currently, through my five years of university thus far, I have learned how to write an essay, how to study, but most of all, amazing ways to procrastinate!
Procrastination is often thought of as being a bad thing; however, in reality, this is not the case. If you procrastinate the right way, it can help you get your schoolwork done and improve the quality of your life.
It’s not like you need any help, but just in case you’re struggling, I have decided to share some of the best ways to procrastinate.
I recently sent a care package to a friend who is overseas with the military. This post outlines what I learned about what to send, how to send it, and who you can send care packages to if you don't know anyone who is deployed. Do you send care packages? What do you pack for your troop(s)?
Fairy murders are on the rise nationally as supplies of baby-teeth and baby-laughter or becoming scarce. The latest, in a string of violent acts, is the result of a horrific battle between the Russian Tooth-Cartel and Colombia's Baby-Laugh black market.
The victim, identified as Sprinkles Alvarez, was a well known lieutenant of the infamous Tooth-Cartel. Police are speculating that she had been trying to organize a massive shipment of baby-laughs when the deal went sour.
Why is the United States fighting in Afghanistan? This simple question is difficult to answer with certainty. Without the benefit of top-secret clearance and connections, revealing the true answer is akin to solving a jigsaw puzzle while gloved and blindfolded. And that is the easy part. If one then happens upon the solution, proof of success is even more difficult- if not impossible. Nonetheless, this is the type of question that thinking men are compelled to solve.
Newt (short for Newton) Gingrich, the right-wing Republican who would be President is back. Gingrich made himself infamous by helping his party’s conservative wing become ster of the House of Representatives in 1994. For many years he led that majority. As we know the Republicans only lasted 12 years in power, but in that period managed to nearly ruin the country and did major damage to the rest of the world as well. Of course, Newt doesn’t see it that way.
Do we know what the solution is to the conflict in the Middle East or indeed any other conflicts in the world? What angles have we not explored yet? After all what we've done up to now and our beliefs about who we are and what we're entitled too have not brought peace and harmony to many parts of the world. Albeit that there is much peace in the world which we should always be aware of and celebrate!
Many Americans work hard and deserve a relaxing day off with family and friends. That is an important part of Memorial Day. That is the liberty that those who have served in our armed forces, in peace or in combat, have protected. I would like to take a moment to remind you of the other part of Memorial Day.
A build-up of heightened tension in the Middle East has been escalating in the last few weeks. American and Israeli postures towards Lebanon, Syria, and Iran have become more threatening. Listening to speeches of political leaders, one hears talks only about war, not peace. Iranians and Israelis are continuously training hard for a possible showdown. Both sides are conducting extensive war games every month.
About a week ago I wrote of a simple way to show support for our military by wearing a red shirt on Fridays. I have found that the public does not seem to be all that aware of this campaign. I have spoken to many members of the military that like the idea.
I don't know about anyone else but I am getting tired of movies made about Iraq and the U.S. stand on that particular region in the world. I understand there is a certain amount of interest in war movies but I just feel that each and every one being made in the past three to four years is a carbon copy of one another with merely different actors.
Earlier this month, the Wiesel Foundation for Humanity published, as an advertisement, an open letter to the President of the United States and the leaders of France, Russia, Britain and Germany, a letter carried by the New York Times and the International Herald Tribune. The issue eliciting the need for such a public letter, essentially a letter written to the world, stood boldly as a heading: “How Long Can We Stand Idly By And Watch The Scandal In Iran Unfold?”
In politics one’s brother could easily and quickly turn into enemy while yesterday’s enemy could, as easily and as quickly, turn into a beloved brother. Case in point is the case of Gaza Palestinians. They used to be the brothers of previous Egyptian ruling regimes, and the Egyptian frontal defense line against its enemy; Israel. But now, Palestinians have been made, by the present Mubarak’s Egyptian regime, an enemy, while Israel, who was Egypt’s (and all Arab’s) enemy had been turned, by this same Egyptian regime, into a beloved brother.
With our troops tiring out and our national debt only getting worse, what is the best thing to do when it comes to the Middle East? What can we make of Obama's Speech at West Point? Is it better for the U.S. and the Afghanistan Nation, to pull out in 18 months? Or should we stay until we know we have the Afghanistan people's government in place? What are the Up's and Down's of both sides?
