A Perfect Narrator (with imperfections)

Don't you love it when a novel's narrator has that certain something that just invites you into his/her interior world from the very first sentence? These narrating characters make me want to read slower because I don't want the narrative to end! I aspire to that kind of transparency in my characters when I'm writing. I hope someday I achieve that fluidity and authenticity of voice.

Narrations Perspective

Probably one of the most famous narrative novels was "The Great Gatsby." It was most definitely written through the eyes of a major player. It's lure, at least for me, was the fact that while we saw the whole story through the narrator's eyes, we also saw only memory. It acted as a memoir(fictional, of course,) novel, and social commentary all rolled into one neat package for consumption.
