Maker Faire
The Maker Faire is an event not to be missed. This year it was held in San Mateo, California and it was incredible. It is tailored made for the curious. All age groups, all types of people, all types of interests are represented in the most user-friendly environment I have been to in a very long time.
The Maker Faire is sponsored by Make Magazine and there is something for the technological geek, the greenster and the diy fanatic. There are interactive craft booths, science booths and just plain, good old fashion ART. Pavilions are scattered throughout the complex, and mixed in between is a wonderful outdoor energy of people, art, craft booths, handcars, artcars, rides powered by the sun, music and wonderful food. A little 'musee de magnifique' meets techno, meets art, meets diy to create two days of more than any brain can retain.
I recommend spending both days at the Maker Faire, and depending on how old and interested your kids are (if you have children); you may want to do one day as an 'adult day'.
