Carbon Neutral Blog? YES

We have to think about our planet as our MOTHER and care for her as well as we care for each other - because without a healthy mother earth, there will be very few healthy places to live and we won't survive... I shared "MAKE YOUR BLOG CARBON NEUTRAL FOR FREE" on www.larahentz.wordpress.com (posted 11-19-11) and added the widget on my American Indian Adoptees blog (www.splitfeathers.blogspot.com) so TWO of my BLOGS are now CARBON-NEUTRAL. Does it get any better than that?
One little change like this - you do it and I do it - that is how we CHANGE THE WORLD!

Green Eyed View- I'm going CO2 Neutral and You Can Too!

I had no idea how much CO2 we make by sharing ideas in the bloggosphere! But no worries. You can get your eco-karma back! Just head on over to Thomas Chasm's Green Eyed View blog and read his post on going CO2 Neutral. The "Make It Green" program is really neat . . . and thinking about it makes me want to go for a hike in the woods. Why? Well, I guess you'll just have to read all about it to figure that one out! :)

Turning my Blog Carbon Neutral

Is your blog carbon neutral yet? Mine is now! To be honest, although I believe that we deserve a clean, healthy planet, there’s not much I do about it. Sure, I like eco-friendly companies, I always try to recycle paper, I avoid wasting water by leaving the tap running while I do the washing up or I brush my teeth. Go carbon neutral, it is easy as pie!

This Blog is Carbon Neutral

I bet you are wondering how a blog can have a carbon footprint. I actually never thought to even think about it until I read this interesting post by Thomas Chasm over at The Green Eyed View in which he explained how much CO2 is produced every year by blog visits. "According to a study by Alexander Wissner-Gross, PhD, physicist at Harvard University and environmental activist, an average website causes about 0.02g (0,0008oz.) of carbon dioxide for each visit. Assuming an average blog gets 15,000 visits a month, it has yearly carbon dioxide emissions of 3,6kg (8lb.). This can mainly be tracked back to the immense energy usage from (mainframe) computers, servers, and their cooling systems." Well, who'd have thought? I can't say I am the most "carbon neutral" of people as I still do travel quite a lot and carbon neutrality is not a strong suit of any air travel, but I certainly do try to enhance our eco system when not in the air!

My Site Is Now Officially Carbon Neutral

And, it couldn’t be easier! I was reading a post on Krafty Kitten’s blog about how she had converted to carbon neutral and just how easy it was. All you have to do is go to the 1 Blog, 1 Tree site and send them a link to your site! So, guess what, that’s what I’ve done! You should give it a go too. It costs you nothing other than typing a few words and you don’t even have to get your nails dirty as they plant the tree for you! Not to mention it is a whole lot less work than the cloth nappy thing, and you don’t have to stop eating meat either! It’s got to be the easiest thing you can do to help the planet. In fact, I’m going to plant a tree in my yard this weekend too! For other easy ways to go green, you might like to check out Inspire Planning’s blog.

Write Green

Thomas Chasm tells of a fascinating scheme in which we effectually plant trees when we race our fingers across our keyboards — and trees suck in carbon dioxide and spit out oxygen. That means we bloggers are not indulging our illusions of fame and fortune. We’re at the forefront of solving climate change. We can tell our spouses that we’re changing the world when they ask us what we’re doing.

Carbon-Neutral Blogging...Mine Is, Is Yours?

I recently ran across a very interesting blog post about the carbon footprints of blogs...yep, your blog has a carbon footprint. Who'd have thunk it? "Making Your Blog Carbon Neutral For Free" on Green-Eyed View has some pretty interesting facts and figures on how much carbon dioxide is emitted by the average blog every visit. I know my little corner of the blogosphere isn't anywhere near average, but I was nevertheless shocked at the thought of my blogging causing carbon emissions, although when I stop and think about it, I do get it.
The answer? Plant a tree. One tree will neutralize the carbon footprint of your blog 100%. sounds pretty cool, but I bet you're thinking about the cost of a tree, care and maintenance, etc., right?
