Finding One's Way ~ Domestic Violence Abuse Awareness

My name is Jessica Brant, I am a survivor of Domestic Abuse who has a passion for writing. I have been writing my plight on the pages of my blog and have recently become an advocate for Domestic Violence Abuse Awareness. My interest lies in spreading the word about Domestic Violence and preventing others women and men from all walks of life from experiencing similar circumstances.

A Nation in Adversity

Adversity is something everyone experiences. Currently, our entire country is feeling some sort of adversity. Everyone either knows of someone, or are themselves, in financial difficulties. Like some sort of Snidely Whiplash, the economy is robbing us of everything including our homes. People are edgy, nasty and cannot see beyond their own need. We are like lions on a carcass growling at anyone who may appear on the horizon. We are no longer friendly because being nice is weakness and right now the only thing that is taught on the streets is ‘The Eye of the Tiger’.

Attachment Parenting

Attachment is the ‘it theory’ of parenting right now. As defined in the psychological sense, attachment theory says that a child must develop a psychological and emotional attachment to one of their primary caregivers to develop normally. Therapists have seen that people who fail to form attachments while infants are predisposed to mental illness starting as young as early adolescence. However, as with most forms of parenting theory, there is little in the way of experimentation or studies proving the efficacy of Attachment Parenting.

On Being alone

Now that I have a family I am hardly ever alone. Come to think of it I was never alone before I had a family and now I find that I am not very good at it. This post is about the weekend my family was away and I got to practice being alone and being good with it.

Obesity Onboard Aircraft: Growing Problem

What is your opinion regarding obese passengers and the rights of others traveling onboard an aircraft? Do you think that they should have to purchase two seats if they choose to live that kind of lifestyle? While I do understand that not all obese persons eat poorly, should they have the courtesy of others in mind? Where should we in the airline industry draw the line?

What about the children of these people? Is it okay that because they are overweight, their child should be?

What is Freedom?

What is Freedom?   Is freedom your -not so admirable- ability to buy what ever the f*#! you want whenever you want? Is it exercising your own free will?  I would say the latter of course, but I highly doubt this comes to mind with most folks around here...Take away their ability to buy shit, and you might see a full on civil war.  Pass another rule, make another law...and no one really gives a f*#! as long as they can keep on working behind their olive colored cubicle walls and continue to buy meaningless stuff.

God vs. The Universe: Is there a battle that we are unaware of?

My name is Deidre Knight (nope, not the romance writer), I am an Empowerment and Lifestyle Coach. This blog is about the conflict between God and the Universe that I have noticed, since the world is struggling to be more conscious. It also speaks a bit about the creative power that we all have.

Back in the States and there are way too many rules...

After living in Central/south America for over a year, this post touches on the topic of how there are way too  many rules in the states. How the land of the free, really isn't the land of the free anymore...

Most Powerful Man in the World?

Financier and speculator George Soros may just be the most powerful man in the world, but you'd never know that by reading newspapers or watching TV news. We all know about mediamatters.com and his other "front" organizations. We know of his ties to Barack Obama, but that information has mainly been dug out by bloggers and the Internet news.

Keeping a Journal at Any Age

This post I shared with my readers how I am starting to journal and am encouraging my daughter who is 4 1/2 to do so too.  I explain my thought process on how buying a new journal and new pen inspire me to start, but sometimes I don't keep that motivation.

Living alone - love it? Hate it? Love/hate relationship? ;)

I recently, and completely unexpectedly, am living all by myself for the second time in my life.  I love being able to walk around in my undies, choose what movies are watched, what music gets maximum play, stand in the kitchen at 3 am in my birthday suit chowing down on leftover cheesecake - and all those little luxuries that living on one's own brings.

IF A RELATIONSHIP CAN'T MOVE FORWARD IT WITHERS

Relationships are always tough, and things don't get any easier as time goes on.  You don't get any better at it just because you've been on the job longer.  With most long-term relationships, there are going to be periods of ennui or boredom along the way.  There are going to be fun times, rough times, fights or confrontations, laughter, tears, changes both good and bad, ups and downs, ins and outs and much more that will impact your relationship in a positive way or negative way.  We all love the feeling of falling in love, the freshness of a new relationship growing a

Do You Feel Unappreciated As a Wife/Woman? (1)

I wonder if it is normal to feel Unappreciated by your husband/man at times.

Do husbands/Men generally take their wives for granted and assume that they don't need TLC especially after children have come on the scene?

This is quite troubling, I have experienced it and heard so many stories from friends and I wonder why so many women feel this way.

I love you...for right now.

My grandparents were married for over 50 years....that is a strong marriage. It stood the test of time, through sickness and in health ‘til death did them part. It’s sad that not all marriages today can be so strong. People get married and they do not know what they step into. That strong husband-wife connection that got our grandparents through everything has been replaced with the "oh well, I'm tired of him/her". Then you have that one partner that does more that their 50% and the other partner taken more than they give.

Passion is Power

“Nothing great in the world has been accomplished without passion.”

- Georg Wilhem Friedrich Hegel

Two weeks ago I wrote an article on the Top 10 Reasons to Take a Job You Hate.  Just by reading the title, you might think that I’m opposed to passion.

The opposite is true.

No diving! Sometimes you have to clean out the swimming pool that is your life.

If your Life is a swimming pool, who gets access to the deep end and who has to stay on the deck? We can't always choose the people in our life, but how much they influence us is totally our decision.

This is one of my favorite metaphors, I find I can stretch it to fit many situations.
