In a report put out by the Greater Boston Physicians for Social Responsibility, “Environmental Threats to Healthy Aging”, the authors have indicated ways to reduce exposure to some of the toxicants in our every day lives.
Vampire Energy is draining wallets across the nation! Vampire Energy is energy waste that comes from everyday appliances, like your TV, VCR, microwave, computer monitor, etc., even while they're turned off. "Vampire Energy Loss" from appliances in standby mode, e.g., the clock on your microwave or a screensaver on your PC monitor, costs over $10/year.
When you give an ordinary run-of-the-mill gift, sure you fulfill an obligation, but that's about all you do. When you give unique, unusual gifts, you show the people receiving them that you really care. You show that you took the time to seek out something different—something that shows you're giving a gift because you want to, not simply because you have to.
I love to shop for birthays and holidays. I am always looking for something different to give. What unusual gifts do you give or would like to receive as a gift?

I have just written a blog post on slow down and enjoy being single because society has a certain rush mentality whenever it comes to marriages! I beleive that a person is supposed to wait on the person who fits their kind, which is a person whom he or she enjoys, not to go through the every day motions of the what society has presented! I believe that if people will slow down and enjoy being single or they are waiting in the process of being married, the marriages would not be like they are! What are your opinions on this subject! Come to
I've found that one of the easiest - and most fun! - ways to jazz up packaging, labels, tags, signs, paper goods, blog or website, etc. is by using a wide variety of fonts and dingbats that match your theme/product/event/style. Luckily, they are in no short supply and can be found all over the net - for FREE! The following is a collection of some of my favorites, great sites where you can find tons more, and related links and resources...

With Valentine's Day fast approaching, how do you see making that day unforgettable? Everyone has their own ideals, their own desires, but often times the partner's can't always seem to get a feel for what that might be. Equally so, there are some general rules of thumb that could be a useful starting point for those who just need a new idea or two, or some that want to make the traditional gifts a little more special. Bringing these ideas to your blog could really spark some great conversations to your readers and prove to be far more useful than you think!
My grandparents were married for over 50 years....that is a strong marriage. It stood the test of time, through sickness and in health ‘til death did them part. It’s sad that not all marriages today can be so strong. People get married and they do not know what they step into. That strong husband-wife connection that got our grandparents through everything has been replaced with the "oh well, I'm tired of him/her". Then you have that one partner that does more that their 50% and the other partner taken more than they give.
2009 was definitely "Year of the Homemade" in the Craft Calendar - money was tight, spending was down, and everyone was looking for ways to reuse, re-gift, and reinvent. Magazines, TV shows, blogs, and books advocated homemade meals, furnishings, decor, entertainment, and gifts.
Hello! It's that time of the week again! This week's herb is also a well-known one, although it is mainly known for its scent, it is one of the most versatile herbs in the world: Lavender.
I received information that the average blogger is anything but carbon neutral. In fact, annually, a blog can generate an average of 8 lbs. of carbon! So, I am working to make this pretty, pink blog a greener place to read. I am joining the "1 blog, 1 tree" movement and having a tree planted to neutralize the carbon emissions caused by my blog.
What do you do to minimize your carbon footprint? How can you improve?
There are many things I didn't know until I became a mother. Friends and family can tell you what to expect all they want, but until you hold a baby in your arms or discipline a young child or share clothes with your teenager, you can never fully understand.
What are the top and bottom three things are that I worry about as a mom? I had to think about all the things that I worry about (and there were a great many) and then I had to organize them by sheer amount of worry. It was not an easy job and it took some time, but I think I have it figured out.
I love my kids, and being a stay-at-home-mom. But I had a rough day yesterday, and couldn't help but think about how life would be different if I worked outside our home. Being content with where I'm at right now is always a struggle for me. No one is constantly happy all the time, but how do you maintain contentment with where you are at in life?
As any parent knows, the moment you have a mobile child, you no longer have privacy. I haven’t peed on my own since 2007. That said, as your child grows older, that group bathroom break turns into an anatomy lesson. My husband and I provided Ella answers to “whas dat?” with the anatomically correct terms when asked.
Bossy's Feltworks is the makings of three friends, mothers and islanders. They live and make felt things using the fleece from their own sheep on the Orcas Island right up off the northwestern corner of Washington state near Seattle. Many artists and musicians have made this little island their home.
The nuclear family has imploded. Why we'd rather post on the internet than initiate in person, how internet can help in-person relationships, and lamenting the loss of block parties. Do you know your neighbors? How do you connect with them?
Ha! I seem to have gone mad about jams and jellies...I can't seem to stop making the stuff! Good thing my hubby like jelly on everything....or we'd permanently have jelly up to our eyeballs! Today I decided to make some lavender-lemon jelly. I had some culinary lavender hanging around, and it just seemed like the thing to do...
I had to do it. I found that friends were starting to treat me and others like "facebook friends" in real life, for example, "collecting friends" - so that just like you can show off how many "friends" you have on your "facebook friends list" - you can do this in real life, by calling people and making tentative plans without any attention of following through with them. I have lost friends via facebook because I have found people will be reactionary and start throwing insults at me that they never would in person if they disagree with something I say. I also noticed that
The first time I made jam was over twenty years ago. I really can't believe it when I think of it that way. My oldest daughter will be 25 in a couple of months and she was a small child the first time I made jam.We lived in Georgia at the time. All along the ditches wild blackberries grew. The blackberries are ripe in July. I can remember walking along those hot, dry and dusty red clay roads picking berries like it was yesterday.
