Somebody once told me that in ancient Chinese art, the great artists almost always included a deliberate flaw in their work. It made it human, authentic. What if the same kind of thing applies to creative writing? Maybe a little "messiness" or something that is just a little "off" in our creative work is not a bad thing. Maybe it's a really beautiful thing. Maybe it's what makes it uniquely our own.
With Valentine's Day fast approaching, how do you see making that day unforgettable? Everyone has their own ideals, their own desires, but often times the partner's can't always seem to get a feel for what that might be. Equally so, there are some general rules of thumb that could be a useful starting point for those who just need a new idea or two, or some that want to make the traditional gifts a little more special. Bringing these ideas to your blog could really spark some great conversations to your readers and prove to be far more useful than you think!
This is a part of my "You Can Hue It" series showing brown girls that they can wear bright and fun different shades of makeup, not just neutral golds and browns.
Do you ever find things in books that you'd forgotten about? I do. All the time. I find bits of paper, old check stubs, pressed flowers, lengths of ribbon, etc. And sometimes I find something more conventional: actual bookmarks. I buy a nice bookmark from time to time--you know the nice ones you see at Barnes & Noble sometimes, with cool artwork on them, covered in a plastic sleeve.
Anyone who is interested in eco-fashion would love to know how to reconstruct their own clothes. Reconstructing clothing turns old clothes that you'd otherwise toss-out, into new clothes with a fashionable edge.

What defines beauty? Is it the way a person looks, facial structure, hair, weight, skin complexion, height, body parts, fuller lips or tighter skin?
In today's society, it seems as if the rules for beauty seem to be superficially defined and ever-changing. The 'beauty is within' belief appears to be insignificant compared to 'beauty on the outside.' After all, beauty or lack thereof is the first thing people notice, judge, remember, talk about, emulate and adore. Or at least that's what society has been brainwashed to think and believe.
Which is more beautiful, brains or beauty? I grew up being told that I didn't measure up in the looks department. Of course I was also told that I didn't measure up in the brains department either. This post is about recognizing the beauty inside of us.
Dear Diary, This morning after a blustery and perfectly pleasing walk through my neighborhood, stomping into puddles of surviving snow in my new rain boots, I returned home windswept in the here and now and drank in the intoxicating smell of hazelnut coffee waiting in the kitchen. I love my home so immensely. Not because it is anything to boast about, but because it is a receptacle for all things I hold dearest. I welcome friends talking with freedom of time and mind -
This is the question posed in our latest Book Club Selection, Unforgettable You by Daisy Fuentes. What I thought would end up being a light, easy read, turned out to be anything but.

Based on an advert for laser hair removal I read, I think we spend about a month shaving our legs. So on a blog post I wrote called "does laser hair removal really give you a month of free time?", I have challenged you to blog about how you spend your perfect month.
I can't wait to read the Buzz with your ideas and will give the Buzz I think is best $100 as a prize.

Ladies, how many of you have been professionally measured and fitted for a bra? Did you end up with a supportive, flattering and comfortable bra that looked and felt great?
If so, you're one of the lucky ones. Any woman who consults a so-called professional bra fitter risks having the wrong size thrust upon her.
Don't you love it when a novel's narrator has that certain something that just invites you into his/her interior world from the very first sentence? These narrating characters make me want to read slower because I don't want the narrative to end! I aspire to that kind of transparency in my characters when I'm writing. I hope someday I achieve that fluidity and authenticity of voice.
It doesn't matter if you are planting something you started from seed, or if you bought a bunch of plants from your local greenhouse (support local businesses!). It is all the same. Some people really object to the idea of buying a plant from a store, just to plop it into a bigger pot. Get over it, really. If that is all that you can do, then do it and be proud of your little bit of greenery.
I'm sure you know the overall plot for this movie but in case not I'll give a brief rundown. A ballerina is chosen to play the parts of the White Swan and then the Black Swan in play put on by her dancing troupe. The problems come when she starts to imagine that the new girl is trying to take her spot. What follows is actually a pretty dark thriller, not what some people were expecting at all I feel.
You get more bang for your buck. You get information tailor made to your interests and if you are adventurous you can add a few 'interests' outside your comfort zone.
But beware, it's addicting, but not in the Facebook way. No passive aggressive comments, no link after link or share after share of the same old thing. But fresh eye candy, good commentary and informative news, art and design blogs.
I love it, just wondering why it took me so long to find it.
A post dedicated to how many single women feel about Valentine's day, and a way to find some true meaning behind those feelings. This post seeks to encourage ladies in the singles lane, into knowing where their true beauty, and 'Happily Ever After' comes from
Have you heard about the Anti-Princess Movement? You can do a quick Google search on the topic and come up with a host of opinions. But the essence of 'the movement' is this; Disney princesses teach little girls to be weak, fragile creatures who think physical beauty and finding a prince are the only sources of happiness for a girl. Disney princesses in particular are getting the brunt of criticism.
The debate rages on, in our hyper-clean society, is all that chemical-laden soap really necessary? Do you use soap daily? Do you bathe daily? What are your thoughts on the controversial issues of SOAP?
I took a challenge and used no soap for one week. The blog post reveals the results of the no soap experiment, and invites you to join (best soap-free stories win a prize!)
