Introducing: Future Shorts - 'The true pioneers of petit cinema' - The Guardian

For those who have watched the short films we post here on Sunday Church Service you may have noticed that many are produced and distributed through collaboration with Future Shorts film label, now the largest short film network in the world.

Since 2003, Future Shorts has established a sprawling international network that provides filmmakers with the opportunities to have their work seen through various theatrical platforms. Future Short ONE is their monthly short film festival which is held in various locations worldwide, providing an accessible alternative to mainstream film festivals. This Saturday the festival will be in London, featuring a selection of shorts from across the globe including ‘clever stop-frame trickery on the streets on New York in Dosh’s Airlift, how one boy deals with growing up in suburban Rio De Janeiro in A Distascao de Ivan and navigating Kabul via skateboard in Skateistan.’

The Eagleman Stag, by Michael Please, a short film represented by Future Shorts was awarded Best Short Animation at the British Academic Film Awards last month. I’ve also included a selection of my favourites from 2010 for you to watch below. Follow the links to a wealth of other shorts, you will not be disappointed!
