Goldfish Bowls Kill Goldfish

Unfortunately, the term "goldfish bowl" is very misleading. Goldfish are unable to survive in a bowl for extended periods of time, especially if you plan on raising a healthy fish that lives a full 10-20 years. In addition to being much too small for a full grown goldie, a bowl is too small to create enough of a surface disturbance required for proper aeration. In fact, glass bowls and small aquariums are notorious for creating fish problems because they severely stunt the growth of their inhabitants, and they are equivilant to living in a sewer - regardless of how well they are cleaned.
