It wonderful on so many levels;
PHILOSOPHICAL -
What is the right and what is the wrong side? Why do we feel the need to decide what is the correct side for men and women? Are we so gender insecure that buttons are the final line of defence?
HISTORICAL
That wealthy women were encouraged to be helpless, not even able to dress themselves, as a status symbol and a sign of ownership by their husbands. This is also reflected in the doll like, high waists, puff sleeves and tiny bodices of regency costume, when women were dressed up to look like vunerable children.
TRIVIAL
Oh the wonderful joy of trivia. At long last to have the answer WHY...to such questions. Long live trivia.
