My new favorite book of the moment is by Philippa Gregory, and is "The Boleyn Inheritance". Correlations are made to Gregory's other novel, "The Other Boleyn Girl", with characters reappearing from the first novel. It's a walk back into time where one person holds the power of life and death over not just a set group of people, but all subjects of England. This is definitely a story that is better as a read than as a movie shrunk into two or two and a half movies (much like "The Other Boleyn Girl")
How often have you been sitting in a movie theater or in your own family room watching a DVD and had the thought: “My life is way more interesting than this!”? What if you could make your life into a movie?
Who would play the part of YOU in a movie about your life? Would your movie be a comedy like mine or a drama? Maybe (gasp!) a horror film?
Do you have a favorite story that you think would make a good short movie? The possibilities are endless.

Having watched the films IN THE VALLEY OF ELAH, BROTHERS and RENDITION I was moved yet again to ask the title question. Artists, in particular, seem to blatantly link themselves with opposition to our involvement in recent wars, now headlined by Afghanistan. People I know are totally against this war and the powers that be fail to come out with any clear, logical and believable rational for this war. Like I said, all answers gratefully received.
A blog about books, movies, and real life. Stories about parenting, author interviews, blog book tours and movie reviews. A blog for women of all races, ages and faiths.
I am looking for feed back on the topic of Reality Blogging. I currently produce a blog that has several writers submitting to. We blog about our restaurant, recipes, personal interests, co-worker dramas, struggles we are experiencing in the industry. We seem to have a good following with a wide variety of readers. Some go for the recipes, others return for the drama.
I was just wondering what other peoples thoughts on this type of blogging and whether they are aware of other blogging sites similar.
The first trailer for Tron Legacy has been released and it looks, for want of a better adjective, stunning. This is just as well, given the impression the original Tron left in the minds of an entire generation. So much so that it matters not that the first film looks as dated as a Christmas jumper on January 1st.
I love The View. I gave birth during The View. How many people can say that? The View is the ONE daytime show I will allow myself to watch and it's only because I feel I get an equal amount of celebrity gossip and fluff, and up-to-the-minute current events.
Yesterday I read an article on Yahoo about the rising trend of profanity in movies. And once I started reading the article, it quickly dawned on me that this fact is so true. Every movie I have recently watched has so many cuss words in it that I find myself cringing. Do others feel the same way or am I a prude? Let me know what you have to say on the subject.
I'm sure you know the overall plot for this movie but in case not I'll give a brief rundown. A ballerina is chosen to play the parts of the White Swan and then the Black Swan in play put on by her dancing troupe. The problems come when she starts to imagine that the new girl is trying to take her spot. What follows is actually a pretty dark thriller, not what some people were expecting at all I feel.
In 2009 as my birthday gift, my supportive husband who knew that I had dreams of becoming a published author paved the way for me attend an Intensive Fiction Writing Class at the University of Washington.
Last year, I bravely signed up for a blog so I could write my writing journey, book, television and movie reviews as well as life experiences in general. In addition to my reviews, I also started a contest last month which proved to be such a joy, that is why I will continue to hold monthly (or more) contests.
Where does your inspiration come from? I find inspiration in lots of different places, but it is frequently informed by what I have seen or read. Most frequently from independent sources.
I HATE MTV television shows. Jersey Shore, 16 and Pregnant, Teen Mom, etc. etc. I feel that these shows teach that with stupidity and hard work, anyone can get on TV and make more money than Barack Obama.
The new season (season 10) of American Idol has brought many changes... New judges mostly. And all the people who get their dreams realized or crushed as they try to get through to Hollywood... That's all the same.
What do you think of J.Lo and Steven Tyler as new judges? And what do you think of the new season? Curious minds want to know!
Over the weekend, I was able to have a nice chat with Anoop Desai, independent recording artist and six-place finisher on American Idol. Even though we talked about a variety of things, the main takeaway I received from the interview was how charming and determined Desai really is. Check out the interview to see what I mean.
It’s cool to make fun of Ben Affleck. Conventional wisdom was that Affleck and Matt Damon made the leap with Good Will Hunting, but it turns out that most of the talent the duo had was with Damon. While the acting side of things certainly favors Damon, Affleck is acquitting himself well from a directing standpoint. I’ll admit to having not yet seen Gone Baby Gone, the first film he directed, but I can say his latest, The Town, shows that he has some real talent working from behind the camera.
As a stay at home/work from home mom, I often resort to the TV as a babysitter way to often. In this post I attempt "TV-free Tuesdays." Anyone else have good ideas for finding the balance between TV as a useful tool and TV overload?
Adapted from Chuck Hogan’s novel, Prince of Thieves, this film follows the exploits of four lifelong friends in crime as they make their way through a series of armed robberies and attempt to avoid the heat of law enforcement. While the plot behind this bank heist thriller may not be very original, the method in which it was filmed makes up for that.
I recently saw, enjoyed and reviewed the entertaining and thought-provoking new documentary film Catfish, which "opens up a whole new can of worms," as they say, on the subject of FaceBook-based relationships and how cautious we should be about what we believe and who we trust. This entire online-networking arena is such a hot topic of discussion, I'm curious to hear what other bloggers who've seen the film or who have an opinion of the subject have to say about the film and the questions it proposes?
