I used to collect cassette tapes as a kid. I found two of them while rifling through an old trunk, the single remaining artifacts of my depleted collection.
Hey you kids! Get the hell off my lawn! With your gameboys and iPods and knife crime. You don’t know you’re born. Back in my day we’d walk seven miles to pick up a CD from our local record store. Uphill. Both ways.
America’s Got Talent act by two sisters with cystic fibrosis is an inspiring example of living a positive mindset. Christina and Ali Christensen do what doctors told them was impossible.
Given alot of complaining that's been going on lately, I thought I'd feature one of my thought streams on modern music. People are forever saying and complaining about the state of the music industry. That it's too commercial, untalented, with no variety etc.
Sniff*. Smell that? That's the aroma of desperation in the air. I guess when your CD tanks you have to pull out all the stops to prevent ending up as a permanent resident of Irrelevancy Nation.
The new season (season 10) of American Idol has brought many changes... New judges mostly. And all the people who get their dreams realized or crushed as they try to get through to Hollywood... That's all the same.
What do you think of J.Lo and Steven Tyler as new judges? And what do you think of the new season? Curious minds want to know!
Make a lemon still life. As a newcomer to oil painting I'm very slow as I work, and so the process can be time consuming. A professional musician does not need another distraction to deal with, and after some serious thought I've been able to make peace between the two arts.
I hope you enjoy some of my first paintings, I enjoyed making them.
As I run across offers of giveaways aka blog candy and or interesting challenges I will post them on my blog. Anything I post I have entered. Come join me in my endevor to blog everyday and increase my papercrafting skills.
Over the weekend, I was able to have a nice chat with Anoop Desai, independent recording artist and six-place finisher on American Idol. Even though we talked about a variety of things, the main takeaway I received from the interview was how charming and determined Desai really is. Check out the interview to see what I mean.
My Hubby says that no one can beat Eminem lyrically. I seem to agree. He has a way of telling a story in all his music. Even though the words can be harsh at least you brings the story around full circle. Even with his first album we have been fans. Some songs I just could not imagine blasting throughout the neighborhood but I can just sit back and actually listen to the words in the songs. Some were funny and some were just plain wrong. But at the end of the songs he invoked the feels in my I assume the song was supposed to do. Sad, happy, anger, weary, and laugh my ass off giggles.

I remember the first time I saw this music video I was totally gob smacked by Freddy Mercury's sexy mustachioed housewife.
The song and the video have a special place in my heart and never fail to cheer me.
I love drag queens because they can dress like women but without all of the pressure to look pretty or be sexy. I know there are plenty of women who dress like drag queens but they are few and far between and they tend to be Pop stars.
Review of the 30 Seconds to Mars MEN Arena concert in Manchester, part of the Into the Wild tour. A wild crazy night of awesomeness. Mexican waves rippling through the arena, glow stick crazy Echelon members and Jared Leto rocking a magnificent Mowhawk and singing like a demon (albeit a super talented one). Echelon members wearing their purple pride and a gorgeous set list made up of tracks from their albums 'Into the Wild' and 'Beautiful Lie' plus the track 'Capricorn' from their self titled debut... Please read!
It is general practice for composers working in TV to use orchestrators mostly due to the incredibly heavy workload and tight deadlines. Many composers I work with and respect define a vast majority of the score details, instrumentation, and secondary lines before handing it off to the orchestrator. The orchestrators are often paid well for their services, but in many cases where the orchestrator has done much more than simply “enhance” or “realize” the score, they are denied a fair percentage of the writer’s share (if given a percentage at all).

Sometimes, shows come along that make you scratch your a head little bit. You ask yourself "What were they thinking? Who would name their show Urinetown? And what is it even about?"
When this comedic satire of a musical opened on Broadway in 2001, no one ever expected anything to come of this odd little show. It had just been presented at the New York Fringe Festival and was far from the typical Golden Era show. The show was surprisingly nominated for 10 Tony Awards and won 3.
Part of conscious parenting is intentionally engaging your child in the world around them. Every day your child is exposed to an incredible amount of noise, and as a parent or guide for a young one, it is your job and joy to help them make sense of all that noise. Part of the noise they are exposed and that children love, is music. Music can have a profound effect on a child’s brain and temperament. You can help guide your child as they experience the world through beat, rhythm, and melody.
Ladies and gentlemen, this song is why I do not like or appreciate new age rap music. Seriously in my opinion it is all garbage now. Now listen I was out yesterday and somebody pulled up beside and I heard this song playing and it really shocked me. So I looked it up when I got home, just to see who the artist was so I could write this blog about it. The song is "Goin' Steady" by Rocko (whoever that is). And here are some of the lyrics of this empowering song:
Sixties British Invasion band, The Zombies, best known for enduring hits like "Time of The Season," "Tell Her No" and "She’s not There" are touring again in support of their 50th anniversary and a brand new CD of original songs! Founding members vocalist Colin Blunstone and keyboard player Rod Argent front a group of seasoned, top shelf musicians who thoroughly replicate the Zombies' unique original sound for a musical blast from the past that you won’t find anywhere else.
A link-list post with many random things - art, music, blogs, strange things happening in the world, etc. Sort of like an online magazine, if you will. Make your own and link up - there are many new things to see!
Each week my blog features an musician with a write up of their latest music, how they formed etc. What do you think to the band 'Turn off the sun'?
But also what are your opinions on regular items on blogs - do readers come back because they knoe there's regularly more of the same, or is it dull to stick to too much of a rigid schedule?
Hollywood A.D.D. by Lo Angel consists of hilarious true stories of a misguided fan. In this post Lo describes a night when she was forced into Britney Spears world of paparazzi, hidden alcohol and lunacy.
Simply put, addressing all of the negative remarks about Beyonce's pregnancy. As soon as Beyonce announced her pregnancy, instead of congratulations, there were many remarks on the unborn child and the possibility of the child looking like Jay Z, which in turn would mean the child will be ugly. I, of course, highly disagree because there are many factors that go against the haters request!
