“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
- Michael Jordan (NBA Basketball Player)
One of the greatest basketball players of all time admits that he failed not hundreds, but thousands of times.
Can you believe that? How could such a phenomenal player be such a failure?
How often have you been sitting in a movie theater or in your own family room watching a DVD and had the thought: “My life is way more interesting than this!”? What if you could make your life into a movie?
Who would play the part of YOU in a movie about your life? Would your movie be a comedy like mine or a drama? Maybe (gasp!) a horror film?
Do you have a favorite story that you think would make a good short movie? The possibilities are endless.
My views on the injustices of criminals being able to get married, and gay people being denied those same rights. Oprah actually led to this post when she talked with a lady who married a man convicted of murder.
This is the question posed in our latest Book Club Selection, Unforgettable You by Daisy Fuentes. What I thought would end up being a light, easy read, turned out to be anything but.

This weekend I attended a different charity function: “Hope for the Children” – a Benefit Concert to raise awareness and funds to help the over 50 million orphans in the world. Many of these children have no home, want for food and clothes, and lack the gift of love. American Idol’s Brooke White volunteered her time and talent to provide the headline performance.
Sniff*. Smell that? That's the aroma of desperation in the air. I guess when your CD tanks you have to pull out all the stops to prevent ending up as a permanent resident of Irrelevancy Nation.
Yesterday I read an article on Yahoo about the rising trend of profanity in movies. And once I started reading the article, it quickly dawned on me that this fact is so true. Every movie I have recently watched has so many cuss words in it that I find myself cringing. Do others feel the same way or am I a prude? Let me know what you have to say on the subject.
How should Mary Ann Evans' marriage to John Cross be read? Her various biographers offer a range of interpretations. Haight interprets it straightforwardly, as an act of sincere affection. Bodenheimer reads her marriage to Cross as a pragmatic, but also essentially conservative, step. Redlinger proposes that she married from “a fear of losing her power to love”. . .
Bloggersunite for the International Day of Compassion (May 15th). Started by Hunter "Patch" Adams. A great way for bloggers all over the globe to unite and spread a little bit of compassion.
I'm sure you know the overall plot for this movie but in case not I'll give a brief rundown. A ballerina is chosen to play the parts of the White Swan and then the Black Swan in play put on by her dancing troupe. The problems come when she starts to imagine that the new girl is trying to take her spot. What follows is actually a pretty dark thriller, not what some people were expecting at all I feel.
There are few words to accurately describe the vibrant hum of Manhattan during the holiday season and this year was no exception, global economic collapse and all.
The simple fact that a celebrity is not oblivious to everyone around them is astonishing all on it's own. Charlie is working toward benefitting the crew of his hit sitcom while he is taking time off to recieve treatment. Something CBS, Warner Bros., and Chuck Lorre had no concern about. Despite his personal battles and addictions Charlie Sheen is still concerned about taking care of the people around him. ....The exact reason why Everybody Loves Charlie. Read full post for more info.
The other day, I was reading some random blog note about "driving traffic to your blog."
Of course, out of interest I read it. I have a blog. I like writing. It's rather therapeutic and having stalkers is just adding frosting to the cake. Oh and Thanks stalkers.
So this article said that if you want to keep people reading your blog that you have to write a KILLER article every week or two. And while you are waiting for that KILLER article to come, you just write a normal post.
The new season (season 10) of American Idol has brought many changes... New judges mostly. And all the people who get their dreams realized or crushed as they try to get through to Hollywood... That's all the same.
What do you think of J.Lo and Steven Tyler as new judges? And what do you think of the new season? Curious minds want to know!
Over the weekend, I was able to have a nice chat with Anoop Desai, independent recording artist and six-place finisher on American Idol. Even though we talked about a variety of things, the main takeaway I received from the interview was how charming and determined Desai really is. Check out the interview to see what I mean.
Adapted from Chuck Hogan’s novel, Prince of Thieves, this film follows the exploits of four lifelong friends in crime as they make their way through a series of armed robberies and attempt to avoid the heat of law enforcement. While the plot behind this bank heist thriller may not be very original, the method in which it was filmed makes up for that.

UNITED NATIONS – In James Cameron’s Blockbuster hit Avatar, an indigenous people called the Na’vi try to fend off a private military force from invading their mineral-rich land. In the Brazilian state of Para, the situation isn’t all that different, as 13 indigenous tribes are working to prevent the construction of the Belo Monte electro-power plant.
Because of Minggus and Moob (my online etsy shop) I have become familiar with some amazing crafters through their Etsy shops, blogs, or books. I wish, wish , wish, I could meet them all for real and take in the talent and creativity that pours out of them like a perfect river flowing into the greater scope of the art and design ocean that is all around us, but a lass this is just a dream and my creative creek will have to do.
I sometimes wonder whether sportsmen are allowed private lives? Whilst it is true that several have used the media to their own needs, I often find myself asking what right the tabloids have to persistently invade the private lives of sportsmen. The Beckhams have put up with it all their lives, although possibly there is less sympathy for them given that they have never been shy of courting the press ...
Review of the 30 Seconds to Mars MEN Arena concert in Manchester, part of the Into the Wild tour. A wild crazy night of awesomeness. Mexican waves rippling through the arena, glow stick crazy Echelon members and Jared Leto rocking a magnificent Mowhawk and singing like a demon (albeit a super talented one). Echelon members wearing their purple pride and a gorgeous set list made up of tracks from their albums 'Into the Wild' and 'Beautiful Lie' plus the track 'Capricorn' from their self titled debut... Please read!
