Darwin in Dispute: Why Current Evolution Theory Might NOT Survive
Any 6th grade science student knows the evolutionary phrase "survival of the fittest," which simply means that over time nature screens or selects the best attributres for survival. Those attributes are then passed along to offspring.
However, a recent story published from the BBC cites a scientific study out of the University of Bristol in the UK that suggests, competition was NOT a key factor in evolution as reported by BBC News online [click the link below for the full story].

Basically, the new study found that a more likely driver of changes in species was the availability of “livable space” and a favorable habitat, rather than competition.
This issue interests me because the more I learn about genetics and life sciences, the less I trust the macro-evolutionary idea that life spontaneously assembled itself in a primordial soup.
It's timely as well, since many students across the country are returning to school over the next few weeks, and it is also a controversial topic (evolution vs. intelligent design) since virutally all public schools only teach the evolutionary model.
