A Cyclists Nightmare Riding Up 8th Ave - Slideshow

After the recent death of an innocent man due to an accident near the 59th Street Bridge and Second Ave I have taken the time to pay attention to my actions on the road, and I must say at times I do not follow all the rules. So, I had to take a moment to ask myself why I keep putting myself in danger. As I looked around I had a pretty clear idea why, and as I was on my way home this evening around 5pm I decided to take my camera to the streets to get a snapshot of what it is really like as a cyclist in NYC, and share it with others.  As you look through pay mind to all the times I was put in to a situation where if I did not move in to traffic I would hurt not only myself but pedestrians as well. This evening when I got home I was probably falling in to category 2.

Please take a moment to look at my slideshow below and put yourself in the bikers seat.  How do pedestrians and cars expect us to follow the rules when we are not even given a fair shot to show we can do it.  Pedestrians and cars complete disregard for the bike lane makes us do the things you hate.
