Okay, we all have them in our closet … those clothes we SWEAR we are going to get back into one day … and they are still collecting dust in the closet, on the shelf, in the boxes, etc. Whether they have sentimental value or you just can’t get yourself to pass them on to others; whatever your reasons are … it’s time to do something with them. Today, I’m going to give you some ideas.
I'm embarking on the 52 Weeks of Blogging your Passion journey and the first step in the process is developing your blog's mission statement. The mission statement serves as the focal point of your blog and all posts should be written with the umbrella of the mission in mind.
So what's my mission? In a nutshell, to support, promote and spread the word about indie designers, handmade artisans and independently owned brick and mortar shops and businesses.
So, what's your mission? How do you carry it out in your blog?
2009 was definitely "Year of the Homemade" in the Craft Calendar - money was tight, spending was down, and everyone was looking for ways to reuse, re-gift, and reinvent. Magazines, TV shows, blogs, and books advocated homemade meals, furnishings, decor, entertainment, and gifts.
The 40th anniversary of Earth Day is coming up on April 22. If you're looking for a crafty way to celebrate, download the FREE "42 Ways to Recycle" Craft eBook from FaveCrafts.
It seems like a lot of the people out there who focus full-time on craft businesses, Etsy shops, blogging, freelance design businesses, etc, have a partner or spouse with a steady income stream. That steady partner in crime helps make it possible for so many of these people to take the leap and devote more time to their creative business endeavors. But what about those people who are single?
Last fall I started doing handmade craft shopping parties, modeled after Tupperware or Mary Kay parties. I make recycled clothing and accessories, but I have also begun selling crafts and handmade goods by other artists as well. Many art and craft markets in my area do not allow you to sell work by artists other than yourself, so I needed to find an alternative way to market these handmade goods.
I bought into the Swiffer hype a while back. And truthfully, I LOVE IT! I hated dunking a mop into a bucket of water and slopping it all over my floor. The water would gradually, sometimes not so gradually, become murky and gross. Dirt would cling to my mop. Swiffer's Wet Jet is brilliant. No mop buckets, easy to get rid of mop pads. The problem is, those mop pads are expensive and not at all kind to mother nature.
I've dealt with depression for most of my life, but it's only been in recent years that I've begun to recognize how many other people are struggling with it too. Depression is silent by its very nature, isolating and stifling, alienating us from those who would help us and those outlets that usually give us happiness. I've found that it seems creative individuals tend to suffer most acutely; the more I poll my friends, writers, actors, painters, costumers and the like, the more I find they have struggled with this insidious illness too.
It’s not gawdy and colourful. It didn’t come in a beautiful box with attractive illustrations, but it’s one of the best tools I have at my disposal to keep me on track and make me aware of my connection to my subconscious mind. When I need a quick reminder to stay on my path, or when I need to touch base with my mind at a deeper level or set an intention for the day, I pull out my trusty little plastic container of cue cards, and inevitably pull a card that is apt for that moment in time.
While doing the Thing A Day Challenge for February, I’ve run across a ton of beautiful crochet heart patterns – all for free. These are all first rate designs given freely by the creators. I wanted to get these beautiful designs in one easily accessable place and share them with other crafters, as well as give a shout out to the designers. If you knit or crochet, I hope you enjoy this round up. And even if you don't, you can still feast on some great eye candy photography and get your hands on a piece or two or thr
So it's confession time, do you keep all you leftovers when paper crafting and stash it away in bags and little plastic boxes or are you the ruthless kind and anything less than good sheet of paper is only good for the trash can/bin ?
I'd like to see othe paper crafters admission as a hoarder or definite practical sorter: cardmakers, scrapbookers or mixed media paper artists; all of you can give me your input.
Go on don't be shy reveal your real side: hoarder or trasher ?
Maybe it suggests something about the fact that the person making the hand made thing can afford the time to do so. Although I've cheated with my tools I think this card looks pretty cute...
So today I went to the store, and started buying spices for my ornaments(thank you Food Lion Latin Foods section for your 99 cent spices)Each packet of cloves is enough to do one ornament...AND...they had whole allspice and star anise, which is wicked hard to find around here. So now I need to think up a few ornaments to make with those, too. Wow, my tree is gonna be FRAGRANT! and I'm going to make cranberry garlands, too, I think. Add a few "quilt balls", and I think it'll be a pretty cute tree.
Christmas tree theme: nature/woodland/garden/moss/twigs/sewing/vintage.
With a list of materials on how to make you own- since it's not exactly sold in stores. A cheaper and better looking (unique) alternative to purchasing mass produced tree ornametns.
Tree ornaments include: clear glass balss filled with moss and twigs, vintage buttons, vintage fabric bits and lace. Snowflakes with pewter color glitter, a Green Man, Twig Snowflakes, fabric birds.

This is the very beginning of my journey into becoming a full-fldged handspinner.
This explains why such a simple thing, like buyng a spinning wheel, suddenly drove me to find a resource for local wool. That resource became a track to owning my own alpaca.
It also explains how I came to be preparing my home for the arrival of two baby English angora rabbits, once they are old enough to leave their mother.
Bossy's Feltworks is the makings of three friends, mothers and islanders. They live and make felt things using the fleece from their own sheep on the Orcas Island right up off the northwestern corner of Washington state near Seattle. Many artists and musicians have made this little island their home.
I am also looking for a co-host for a new blog hop/giveaway hop on my blog. This is a great way to gain new followers. I write about all kinds of stuff- Product Reviews, Giveaways, Parenting, Tech, Beauty, Style, Blog Design, Blog Tutorials, Craft Tutorials..
Hello Lovelies! So for those of you who know me I am super crafty and I love making things, and you might also remember me mentioning that the diva is involved in dance competitions.
So I decided to make this fun bulletin board to showcase all of her medals, ribbons and awards.
It's been a passion of mine to start my own business. I love to turn people's trash into treasure. I got into to this years ago when I started doing little projects for my mother in law. She owned a store in Brunswick, Ga. called "The Old Country Store" where she sold crafts and old furniture. She inspired me to do more. She was my biggest fan along with all my other family members. Now it's time ...for me to put what I love to do, to work for again.
Frames are expensive! I give you some ideas on how as a professional photographer I have taken unusual objects and used them to creatively frame my work. Save money, recycle and start conversations!
