Chocolate pudding with custard and wheat beer recipe

As my housemate very kindly offer to cook me tea the other  night I decided to repay the favour by making a big old chocolate sponge for us all to have after. The recipe is really simple and takes minutes but the results are fantastic although they do come with the warning that this is a really filling chocolate pudding, not a  light ‘posh’ dessert.

I served it piping hot with Custard and a Wheat Beer called Moosbacher. I had toyed with using a dark Ruby Ale or a Chocolate Stout but I thought that they would offer too similar tastes and wanted to juxtapose something lighter – having the beer similar to the  custard!

And if you like custard, try the Dark Chocolate Custard recipe! Not a fan of custard or can't get enough chocolate recipes? You can use your stout in a Chocolate Stout Cake! How fabulous is that?

Beer and chocolate.....mmmmmm

Wine isn't the only thing to pair with food - beer is also a great choice. And while it may sound odd to some, beer and chocolate are a great pairing.

Pairing Beer and Food

I would like to assume most foodies are capable of pairing basic wines with certain foods. But we do not think of trying to pair other alcohols with food. Trying other spirits or beers can be revealing and fun.
Read about a couple of suggestions.
