Earlier today I watched a movie called Evan Almighty. It’s the sequel to Bruce Almighty. Steve Carell from The Office, stars in this film and plays Congressman Evan Baxter who is contacted by God to build an ark in preparation for an imminent flood. Evan, estranged from his family due to his busy life, remains skeptical at first, but eventually submits to God’s will and finds himself reconnected with his wife and children. As a result of building the ark, Evan saves a town from a massive flood that strikes. He changed the world through one random act of kindness.

Why is it that the vast majority of people mistake kindness for weakness and act accordingly? I'm sure Mother Theresa or Jesus has the answer but unfortunately neither of them is on my Facebook Friends list so I'm throwing this question out into cyber spaces in search of the answer.

Today on Facebook my daughter posted "no beauty... despised and rejected, a man of sorrows.. familiar with suffering... He took up our sickness and carried our sorrows...the punishment that brought us peace was upon him (from Isaiah's prophecies of the "Christmas Child"). For all who carry pain at Christmas and feel cheated out of what it "should" be like - you are so close to the heart of the story. God is with you even there.
