Authenticity in Blogging

While surfing the net last week, I stumbled upon some Bloggy Drama.  It was centered around a "big-name" blogger who is accused of making up many of her stories and being very untruthful on her blog.  There are several websites dedicated to "outing" this blogger.  The whole thing opened my eyes to something in the blog world that I really didn't know existed.  So I'm curious about other bloggers' opinions on Authenticity in Blogging.  Do we owe it to our readers to be 100% truthful?

Authenticity in Blogging

I'll be honest, I don't often care about the 'big, bad, world out there', but 'Putting the FUN in Disfunctional' posted a blog that really hit close to home... when bloggers are not what they appear, and when they make claims that are untrue.

Another seed/topic

I saw this seed and never really gave much, if any thought to how authentic the blogs I read are - not that I read many, but I'm starting to read more and I'm finding it interesting to at least see what others who like to write, write about.

Should bloggers be 100% honest on their blogs?

A blogger lying on their blog about what they share? Well no that is not possible! It just can’t be. Not in this world of reality tv that stinks and adorable politicians who honestly care about us when they are campaigning, right? Heaven forbid!
I am not naive in thinking that everything I read online is honest, but when I visit the blogs I love (many many) of them, I automatically assume that when listening on their daily lives, how they are feeling and what they are sharing is 100% honest and trustworthy.
