Are we Waiting on Superman
"Education is a social process. Education is growth. Education is, not a preparation for life; education is life itself." ~John DeweyI have been in the Education business for the last eleven years. I know it is not perfect, but I am beyond passionate about my profession. An industry that is so important will always be much criticised. There are constant worries that we don't measure up. The other guys are scoring higher test scores, their graduation rates are better- are worries that echo in our ears every single year.

Finally! A Positive Thought on Education in America
Thank you for sharing an upbeat, soundly-supported, thought on the state of education in the USA! I am a passionate educator as well. Tired of the constant badmouthing and sickened by the public's refusal to see the goodness in our schools, I have been working on encouraging others to simply enjoy our successes! If a taxpayer could merely look at that neighborhood school as a diamond -- perhaps in the rough, perhaps already refined and expertly cut -- but a diamond, in whatever state it might be, and lift it up, take ownership of and pride in what it is and what it can become, then I've no doubt what amazing things might become of the state of education. We just need to open the door.
