Why are so many bloggers not attaching the actual permalink to their seed and instead are using the general url for the blog?
There are some blogs I have not buzzed because I have wade through so many posts to get to the that was seeded, due to the person not using the perma link in their seed. It is very frustrating.
Submitted by Melissa Mashburn on 18th JulI can answer this pretty effectively, I think. First off, let me say right up front that I am very interested in this concept and in marketing my blog and exposing it to others -- and I'm positive that just about everybody who has made it through to this site must feel that way.
The reason they are not attaching the actual permalink is because they, like me, are familiar with making general links, but are perhaps NOT very familiar with permalinks, and they are even more unfamiliar with exactly how all the linking, seeding, and buzzing on this site works. Now before you think I am an idiot, I have learned in the past 3 months to build decent websites from a blank page into some pretty cool sites. Granted widgets and certain software and other tools obviously help, but I make a little money on my websites so that's where my focus is.
I get real PLEASURE blogging, and while I don't get to post as much as I'd like to, wordpress is easy to build and get around in for me.
That all said, now here I am invited to a site which is laid out as simply as a nursery school door, and I'm not exactly sure how it works. I have been here for about 10 minutes reading all the questions and answers, and have not grasped the seed/buzz/writing mechanics, exactly how it works together and blends bloggers with different DNA, and THAT makes me feel stupid.
This site needs a simple example where it is spelled out in the following way: Blogger A likes to write about parenting, so he writes and introduces a story about discipline. He writes it (on this site, on his blog, as part of ???) Blogger B is new and likes to write about technology, but is a parent. SO Blooger B can pick up a seed from blogger A....etc etc -- I couldn't even finish these simple intructions because I need them myself.
I wonder how many other people like me had to wait the prescribed 24 hours to see whether they would "make the cut" and get into this site to see what it was all about, only to get here, feel a little stupid like I do right now, and end up leaving. I bet the analytics would say quite a few. Like why don't I understand these seemingly simple ideas described with monosyllabic words a 3 year old could repeat, but here I sit wondering exactly how to execute this? I guess I am the kind of person who just needs certain things spelled out in that easy, abc fashion.
I am going to copy this entry and enter it as a blog and request that somebody complete my "blogger a, blogger, and blogger c directions analogy", tell me how to attach an actual permalink (I pull that off my wordpress, right?) and where I attach it. Explain the whole seeding, buzzing notion using an actual example, PLEASE. And by the way, does anyone else feel like I do?
Thanks! Tom
The reason direct links are not listed in the seeds is because the site prevent it. I use permalinks and it still does not allow it. It will only allow me, which is ridiculous, to post to my main page.
It's a problem with seeded buzz that they need to fix.
Tom,
You took the words right out of my mouth! I think that 'techno' people (like Doctors) often forget that we don't know what they know, and when they explain things, they don't consider that we might not know what a permalink or seed or back link is...
I agree, 'dumbing things down' would be a very helpful thing to do!
"due to the person not using the perma link in their seed. It is very frustrating."
We as new members find your instructions... In YOUR words... FRUSTRATING!
So... I would love to do a post to help promote myself, but would like the instructions spelled out for me as well as Tom!
Thank you,
Cindy
Great job. I feel as though I was standing on the clean sidewalk wondering what was in the mud puddle, in the road, when a big ass cement truck drove by into the puddle and now I am covered in goo.

April 16, 2011- Answer #5 to Why are so many bloggers not attaching the actual permalink to their seed and instead are using the general url for the blog?
Oh my my. The Seeded Buzz is catchy, appealing, promising, new, unique and very, very in need of US...the members. It's as if the brain behind this concept set up the site, provided the mission statement, and left the implemenation, demonstration, and usability details to the users.
So, to answerer #1 I ask: Have you figured it out well enough to teach it? If so, please teach me. If not, I am willing to proceed where you left off but I need some time to practice and test before offering expertise.
To answerer stating permalink not allowed and problem is with Seeded Buzz: Thank you. Because of your answer, I can quickly determine if the issue has been fixed and if it has NOT, I will do my best to advocate for a better Seeded Buzz.
Finally, to anyone feeling awkward about this curious seed/buzz concept, I have a hunch you are quite brilliant.
Submitted.
