SeededBuzz is a community of bloggers where members with similar interests and goals are connected with each other, content ideas shared and relationships formed. The benefit of these friendships and cooperation is increased backlinks, subscribers, followers and revenue.
As the name suggests there are two parts to SeededBuzz. The Seed and the related Buzz.
Seeds
Seeds are summaries of a recent blog post that’s on a topic that other bloggers may want to pick up on and mention in a post of their own. In online marketing this is often referred to as link bait. We prefer to call it good old-fashioned quality journalism.
The types of seeds that will get mentions on other blogs as well as get retweeted and bookmarked are often either a useful resource e.g. top 10 list, newsworthy, contentious, funny, opinionated, thought provoking or a combination.
A good well planted seed should get written about on other member blogs as well as being tweeted and retweeted. This activity will help increase direct traffic to a blog and indirect traffic via enhanced search engine rankings.
Buzz
Buzz is created by the bloggers that have chosen to write about and reference the Seeds that have been planted by linking to the original post.
The key to making the relationship between Seeds and Buzz work is the Buzzer get rewarded in two ways:
- Firstly, the more seeds they write or should we say ‘Buzz’ about the more credits they earn that can be used to plant seeds of their own.
- Secondly, we ask that any Buzz submitted referencing a Seed also references at least one additional item of Buzz submitted on on the same Seed. As the posts are on the same topic this should actually make for a better blog post as well.
The result of this is bloggers writing great buzz also get more links, tweets and bookmarks.

Anyone can apply but only blogs considered to be active and of a quality you’d be proud to get a mention on will be accepted.
What are the rules?
To help ensure blogs get the maximum marketing benefit from taking part, there are rules that need to be followed and a code of conduct based on mutual respect, encouragement and participation. The rules include ensuring to link in a relevant way to a blog you reference and being respectful.
What happens if no other blogs write about your seeds?
Of course we’d hope that this wasn’t the case, and we can’t and would not want to make another blogger write about you, however, the worse case is you’ll get one backlink, a tweet and a stumble from seededbuzz.com and our respective social profiles promoting your post. This is actually more than you get from most expensive press releases.
What’s in the code of conduct?
Rules in our code of conduct include:
- Treat member bloggers with respect at all times, even say hello.
- Show your support and appreciation for great content by buzzing or at least re-tweeting posts you like - we think it's nice to be nice.
- Don’t just take, try giving as well.
- Commit to your blog and the marketing of it – your work deserves to be read.
- If you don't play fair and try and cheat the community in any way we will remove your account without any warning and let's be honest, that would be a shame.
